Ayodeji Alaka // Design Strategist

Ayodeji Alaka is a passionate advocate and practitioner of UX informed design strategy. He brings to projects an open mind and career experience spanning multiple grocery retail, commercial aviation, tertiary education and international development projects.

As a UX design strategist people driven design informs his thinking, enabled by contextual insights. This approach implies a philosophical departure point; effective product or service experiences are developed in collaboration with people for whom they are intended. These are in addition to project commissioners and sector relevant ecosystems.

He finds integration of participatory formats, strategic imagination and considered socioeconomic and cultural context necessary to facilitate long term value creation.

Ayodeji co-edits and writes at medium.com. He guest writes for New Africa; an IC Publications product and Whatsonafrica(dot)org; A Royal Africa Society Product. Stephan Hammes // Brand Experience Strategist

Stephan’s expertise is strategic branding and communication. Combining over twenty years of practical experience in the advertising and design industry with an executive MBA from Imperial College Business School, London, he merges the creative world of consumer communication with the commercial world of management consulting.

Integral to his methodology to gain insights are customer-centred processes of service design and design thinking (e.g. prototyping and co-creation).

Drawing from his international experience he believes branding and identities should be rooted in the business model leading to a central idea that steers the products/services, the communication, the environments and the behaviour of an organisation.

Working with prominent global brands (such as Mercedes-Benz and Red Bull) as well as start-ups this underlying principle informs his approach-the balance of intuitive and analytical thinking to achieve set business objectives.
